My Career at Dresdner Bank
Juliane Leite, a native from Brazil, matriculated at SIMT in 1999 to pursue an MBA degree in International Management. After finishing the MBA in 2001, she joined Dresdner Bank as an Associate Risk Controller in its headquarter in Frankfurt.
I have been working for Dresdner Bank since June last year and I can say that my experience has been definitely unique. Just one month after I joined Dresdner, the deal with Allianz was finalized and the bank acquired. During these 10 months I have learned a lot. In addition, upsetting as the terrorist attacks on the United States on September 11th were, witnessing the turmoil caused in the capital markets and the effects provoked by those events from a "risk perspective" was a considerable experience. Moreover, "being part" of the introduction of the Euro as a legal tender in the beginning of 2002 was also fascinating.
Concerning career development, Dresdner's global presence offers me a wealth of cross-culture experience and unparalleled opportunities for professional and personal growth. I am kept on a long lead, so to speak. And because of the size of the group, it is a world of its own. All the people in the bank get the opportunity to stay with different departments in order to get first hand experience in diverse areas, so that we can gauge higher steps with confidence and a sound background.
It has not been easy to get the job but the management skills and multicultural experience gained during the MBA-course at SIMT, together with my previous technical background, gave me the credentials for the position I am holding now. To the current graduates, I can truly say that the MBA was a rehearsal for the challenges I am facing now.
Plans for the future? As a young professional, who believes that we make the future, I have of course many plans. I am confident that my international background and the sound experience I have gained will afford me infinite possibilities.
