SIMT MBA Graduate Portrait: Henry Zhu

Henry Zhu is 29 years old and studied at Shanghai Jiao Tong University (China) Engineering Polymer Material Science and Engineering. In 2002 Mr. Zhu graduated with an MBA degree in Management Information Systems from SIMT. Henry Zhu gives an insight in his SIMT experience and how his career has improved since then in China:  

"My career started as an engineer with a major company in China. I was providing technical support services to customers. In this position the career perspective was not good at all, therefore I decided to pursue an MBA at SIMT. The choice for SIMT was an easy one, especially because of the first-class MBA program offered. The best elements of the MBA program are the high standard of the classes, close contacts to worldknown German companies and the mixture of many different nationalities and cultures of the student body.

This extraordinary mix of backgrounds and cultures of the other students benefited me in the sense that my perspective was internationalized. Now I feel comfortable in dealing with foreign business partners and customers. Thanks to SIMT's close contacts to the industry I got the opportunity to do an internship at the DaimlerChrysler IT Management Department. The knowledge and hands-on experience I gained increased my skills and capabilities. It also made me more self-confident.

The SIMT degree helped to develop my career significantly. Through the MBA I was able to get a position as software project manager in Shanghai. Now I benefit from the knowledge I learned at SIMT. Courses such as project management methods, organizational behavior and IT-management help me to perform good in my current job. Needless to say, in my job I benefit from the soft skills learned at SIMT, like team work and communication.

I for myself can say, it's really worth investing the time and money on SIMT MBA program, because the return on investments is obvious. I can only recommend SIMT because the business school provides its students with high quality education, close contacts to the German industry, international learning atmosphere and a global alumni network, and all of these points will be beneficial to SIMT graduates.
